In addition, with these updates we have also decreased the dead zone for the joystick when in Desktop Mode. This update contains “Hold to Repeat” functionality for controller buttons, new levels of VRAM adjustment, and more. But wow will I avoid Asus like the plague in the future. We have released a new update to the microcontroller unit and a new update for Armoury Crate SE on the ROG Ally. I can't believe they're still in business, they used to be a pretty decent brand?īasically I got a nice keyboard with Cherry MX Brown switches and the groovy left-mounted media controls including the nifty vol/mute wheel thing which I like, for $100 so I end up not really using any of the rest of the crappy implementation of the keyboard I'm not super disappointed. Asus TUF motherboard was very high on my list. I'm THRILLED I did not buy any other Asus crap on my latest build. people mention using Revo uninstaller to try to clean up Asus' mess, I haven't had to do it yet. Supposedly you need to put a lot of effort into removing any previous Asus software before you try to install new. So you have to figure out everything you ever wanted to do for multiple profiles, set them all up at once, then never try to use the software again unless you're willing to reset the keyboard to default. Then try to start Armoury over and over again, after many instant crashes eventually it will start, then WAIT don't touch anything while it loads for a long time. Hold them until it changes from red to green. The only way to get the app to load again after ANY custom changes to the keyboard, is to reset the keyboard with Fn+escape. After quite a bit of random clicking and headscratching I managed to change two keys to two different colors. On a freshish OS install, I got it installed and it works - ONCE. Here's the latest Armoury non-Crate software. There are way too many people out there that are not only unhappy with how crap their software is, but how difficult it is to uninstall/remove/unbreak everything after you install it. I downloaded the ROG_Armoury_v30016.zip but I'm literally getting a full bare-metal restorable image of my new computer before I do anything but rapidly uninstall anything/everything Asus and return this keyboard. After spending some time looking into the issues with this keyboard, THANK GOD I didn't get any other Asus stuff. This is a new PC build where I got a Gigabyte X390 motherboard, and Asus was my second choice. Maybe even find preset templates for the default keymaps of a given game.ĭamn I loves me some Cherry Browns!! The keyboard feels great. I thought I would be able to find/load/save individual templates somehow. I'm now happily typing away with a chosen static color.Īgain there is absolutely no way to change individual keys. I could not set a static color and the whole thing was pretty flaky. Also setting the preset general color schemes to the keyboard sort of works now (rainbow, breathing, etc), it didn't before. The "buttons" thing allows you to assign different FUNCTIONS to the buttons, per profiles 1-5, but there is still nothing that has anything to do with colors. I was completely unable to determine what firmware came on it when I bought it today before that.Īfter a reboot, I have a "buttons" and a "firmware update" tab which now shows me firmware. I have no idea what, but after that it wanted a reboot. So I clicked "update all" and something happened. It seems to be trying to display the versions and if they need updating but each column just shows a dash mark. In Armoury Crate, I kept clicking check for updates and nothing would happen.
